This is Important. Keep an open mind to what Jenifer Lewis is saying. Talk to your kids…

We keep telling y’all

I cannot tell you how often I’ve been at a dinner or lunch or party and the whole table of maladjusted adults is joking about how they were brutally beaten as kids (in situations where there was no call for violence ((aka every interaction between parent/adult and child))) and the whole table is laughing, and telling these stories as if they’re humorous anecdotes and encouraging each other to continue the tradition & really ‘discipline’ the kids. And when I speak up about how allllll of those situations could have been resolved with a conversation or a creative solution, I’m a ‘sensitive millenial’.

I am sensitive. I am sensitive to the needs and well-being of children. There are countless studies out there, and everyone who studies kids (who actually use data & facts & science to back up their opinions) agrees that spanking is harmful!! Beating your child is harmful!! Hitting them upside the head is harmful!! It’s indisputable at this point- but y’all would really rather continue neglecting the work you need to do on yourselves and perpetuate the trauma YOU experienced!! You gotta work your shit out and treat people better than you were treated!! And newsflash, asshole- children are people!!

^^ yes yes!! People love recounting these stories as memorable and like it’s not a problem .

This one was a little bit more challenging to do than I thought it would be – and that was mostly in all the detail (RIP) ,as well as figuring out ways to adapt a Klimt-esque look to Howl. It was really tempting to put him in his pink jacket since it lends itself to rectangular form so well. However I just had to go and make things difficult for myself… because I love his transformed version!

Based on Klimts ‘The Kiss’ (1907-1908)
