Crying is how humans safely release stress. It’s why you feel better after crying: the release valve was triggered and you’re not pent up any more. That men are societally denied this release is both sad and dangerous.
To add tho: if, while crying, you’re beating yourself up (i.e., I’m a terrible person, I don’t deserve to cry, this is my fault, etc.) the crying won’t be as effective.
Why? Because quite literally, your body is getting rid of built up chemicals from whatever is causing stress. If you’re beating yourself up while crying, all you’re doing is creating more of those chemicals that then build up all over again.
Crying is natural, don’t demean yourself bc you’re crying, even if it’s in public. Just let yourself cry. You have feelings and sometimes that shit builds up. Try to cut yourself a little bit of slack, even if it’s just for a short while.
so you dated the wrong person and learned a hard lesson. you chose the wrong major and had to start over again. you cherished a friend who backstabbed you. it sucks, but it’s also going to work out. that’s life; you learn, hurt, love, cry, laugh, and keep going. you experience setbacks and you grow and it’s all okay.
i had the best human interaction of all time last night. i was sitting at a bar eating an appetizer and this guy comes up to order a drink and stares at my food and comments how good it looks. when i am drunk i use the word bitch like it is a comma, i plug it into any space in a sentence possible. so naturally the first thing i say to this stranger is, “go ahead and take one, bitch.”
he looks SO shocked and taken aback and goes “what did you just say? how do you know my name?” so i sit there for a moment trying to figure out what the fuck he is talking about, and then go, “…. bitch?” and he looks so relieved and tells me his name is mitch.
i cannot stop thinking about this. oh my god. imagine going into a bar and someone you know for a fact youve never met approaches you and says “go ahead and take one, mitch.” im cracking the fuck up. he looked like he thought this was the fucking truman show
“I love dance, but acting was always an inner ambition. The ballet world is so closed, and there was so much more I wanted to do. The thing about being a dancer turned actor is that you know what hard work is. It’s true. And I’m so fucking grateful for that. In dancing, you can work hard and improve and see the results. With acting, you can work hard and it’s still luck of the draw.” — Sonoya Mizuno.
